The U937 cell line was derived from malignant cells of a pleural effusion of 37 year old caucasian male with diffuse histiocytic lymphoma. One of only a few human lines still expressing many of the monocytic like characteristics exhibited by cells of histiocytic origin. The GFP Stable Cell Line-U937 constitutively expresses GFP.
