Bali, May 3-5th 2025 - Summit Institute for Development (SID) was selected to attend a boot camp organized by KONEKSI-Partnership in collaboration with the Indonesia Project - Australian National University (ANU). As one of the officers, Rachmi Mufida, M.Gizi, took part in the program as an active delegation from SID. The bootcamp aimed to strengthen the research capacity of researchers from Eastern Indonesia, to develop impactful research ideas, encourage them to take on the role of principal investigators, and share the research findings and recommendations to drive innovation and development.
In addition to building research skills, the program placed a strong emphasis on integrating Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into research design and methodology. The GEDSI approach was presented not just as a research topic and title, but as a critical element to be embedded in the entire research process.
Over three intensive and valuable days, participants engaged with outstanding mentors from ANU’s Indonesia Project and KONEKSI. The sessions offered valuable insights, constructive feedback, and new ideas—benefiting not only the current work at SID but also inspiring future projects. Participants learned how to make research GEDSI-transformative by embedding its principles beyond the surface and into the core of our methodologies. Participation in the Eastern Indonesia Researcher Network also fostered peer learning and interdisciplinary collaboration, enriching our perspectives and connections through the group assignment and discussion.
The journey doesn’t stop here. An upcoming online session will support participants in preparing individual research proposals. As the outcome of this program, participants will have the chance to present their research in a dedicated KONEKSI session at the Indonesian Regional Science Association (IRSA) Conference in 2025.
