SUMMIT for Sade: Sharing Support, Bringing Back Smiles
The devastating fire that struck Sade Village on August 22, 2026, left a significant impact on the community. The loss of homes, belongings, and a sense of security became part of an experience that residents had to face during an incredibly difficult time.
Amidst the situation, the spirit of solidarity and mutual support became an important source of strength for the community to begin rebuilding. As a gesture of care and support, SUMMIT handed over donations to representatives of the Sade Village community on September 7, 2026. The donations included essential food packages and gently used clothing, which were intended to help meet the daily needs of families affected by the disaster.
For SUMMIT, however, supporting the community is not only about providing material assistance. There are other needs that are equally important, especially for children who have also experienced the sudden changes and uncertainty brought by the disaster.
Therefore, as part of the same visit, the SUMMIT team invited children from Sade Village to take part in fun games centered around Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS). Through interactive and engaging activities, the children were encouraged to smile, play together, and learn about healthy and hygienic daily habits in a fun and accessible way.
The simple activities created a space for the children to take a moment away from the challenges they were facing and enjoy time together with their friends. Their laughter and enthusiasm served as a reminder that post-disaster recovery is not only about rebuilding what has been lost, but also about restoring a sense of safety, hope, and joy.
Through this initiative, SUMMIT hopes that the support provided can bring meaningful benefits to the people of Sade Village and become a small part of their journey toward recovery and rebuilding.
